A popular North Indian recipe, made very commonly in the homes of India. A delicious treat for all cottage cheese lovers. It goes very well with an Indian bread called paratha and also with rice.PREP 20 mins
250 to 300 gms cottage cheese”
1 cup peas
1 ½ cups water,
½ tsp cumin seeds
¼ tsp turmeric powder
¼ to ½ tsp red chili powder
1 tbsp malai or cream (optional)
2 to 2.5 tbsp oil
a little coriander
salt as per taste
ingredients for the curry paste:
3 medium sized ripe red tomatoes, chopped,
1 medium to large onion, chopped,
1 to 2 green chilies, chopped
½ inch ginger, chopped
2-3 garlic, chopped
2 tbsp roughly chopped coriander, chopped
10 to 12 whole cashews, chopped
4 to 5 black peppercorns2 to 3 cloves
½ inch cinnamon
1 tsp coriander seeds
LETS COOK IT UP!
Blend all the ingredients of the curry paste in a blender.
In a pan, heat some oil and add the cumin seeds. Let the splutter. Add the curry paste to this and let it sauté for a while.
Now add all the dry spices mentioned above. Let it cook for one minute.
To this add the cream and peas. Add water to this and let it cook till the peas soften.
Add the cottage cheese now and let it cook. Make sure you don’t cook for more than 2 minutes or the cottage cheese becomes hard.
Garnish with coriander and serve.
